Need Some Cheer?

How are you this fine Monday? Oh. Not feeling cheerful?

Hmm. Maybe these words of wisdom will perk you up.

Wear something red today. Christian Dior said: "Bright reds-scarlet, pillar-box red, crimson or cherry-are very cheerful and youthful. There is certainly a red for everyone."

Every time you catch yourself thinking a dark, pessimistic thought, say to yourself: "I am hopeful, enthusiastic, and optimistic." It's like Orson Swett Marden once said: "It is the hopeful, buoyant, cheerful attitude of mind that wins. Optimism is a success builder; pessimism an achievement killer."

Feeling old and tired? Try this quotation by Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.: "To be seventy years young is sometimes far more cheerful and hopeful than to be forty years old."

Wearing your cranky pants today? Change that attitude by greeting everyone with a smile. Zig Ziglar said: "Send out a cheerful, positive greeting, and most of the time you will get back a cheerful, positive greeting. It's also true that if you send out a negative greeting, you will, in most cases, get back a negative greeting."

Have you noticed that you feel better when you're with cheerful people? Then pass that on. It's like Lydia M. Child said: "You find yourself refreshed in the presence of cheerful people. Why not make an honest effort to confer that pleasure on others? Half the battle is gained if you never allow yourself to say anything gloomy."

Finally, from one of my favorite singers, Beverly Sills: "A happy woman is one who has no cares at all; a cheerful woman is one who has cares but doesn't let them get her down."

Takeaway Truth

There's a difference in happy and cheerful. I think if you're cheerful, you have a better chance of growing happiness. Have a golden day!
